Stephen started his career with Ernst & Young in Southern California in 1991. While at Ernst & Young Steve was exposed to many different size companies and industries. He quickly gravitated towards the "Entrepreneurial Service Group" which focused on smaller business. In this group he found that working with small business clients was very rewarding.
Stephen then spent two years with a local accounting firm, Brown, Leifer, Slatkin & Berns, (BLSB) in Southern California where he continued working with small businesses and growing his passion for working in the small business arena. While working at BLSB, Steve also gained valuable experience working with trusts and estates.
In 1997, Steve and his family returned to Utah to work with Ernst & Young and later with KPMG. While here in Utah, Steve has had the opportunity to work with clients such as Questar Corporation, Nature's Sunshine Products, PowerQuest, Savage Industries, Pro-Mark, Inc. (Orbit Irrigation), SME Industries, and Woodside Homes. While working on these clients Steve has had a wide variety of experiences from working with expatriates to making S corporation elections, accounting method changes, and corporate reorganizations.
Steve graduated from BYU in 1991 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree in Taxation. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Utah and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Steve enjoys hiking in the local mountains, running, playing softball, basketball, and golf. He also loves to spend time working in his yard.
Steve resides in Alpine with his wife Tricia, and four children, Emily, Stephanie, Jessica, and Spencer.
